You didn’t just inherit trauma from your ancestors; you inherited your life.
Stop putting the burden of blame on your ancestors. They were doing all that they could. And LOOK you are HERE, NOW! Doesn’t this mean they must’ve done something good? You say you inherited pain and trauma from your bloodline, but did you not also inherit from them the gift of life? Or the spirit of endurance?
Your ancestors did something that preserved and protected your soul until it came to earth— and that should be our focus when we speak of ancestors. We should see their struggle and honor it with JOY.
How can we respect the deeds of the dead, how can we honor their lives? By replaying their trauma and pain? No—only by living our lives fully can we redeem them of their own.

We should be working toward a life that they didn’t get a chance to live, a life that is worth the struggle they went through to ensure your existence.
What is it worth to focus on the trauma they passed down? That is a vessel that needs emptying, not carrying. As modern people we have access to tools unavailable to our predecessors. These tools should be used to break these vessels, not to seal them further.

When we say Rest in Peace. Let it really be peace that they are rested in. Yes, become the peace that we hope for. This feels to me like the right thing to do.
Release your ancestors of the burden of hardship and release yourself of the limitations on your joy and peace.
With love, always, Chloeandclover ☘︎ ݁˖⋆xoxo
